Description: Emma, wife of Charles Bovary, a doctor in a provincial town, misses the worldly pleasures and comforts of life in Paris. During a dance by the Marquis of Andervilliers - one of the rare occasions where he can live like dreams - the young viscount Gaston Fresnay begins courting her and, as Emma has not sold, his subsequent death in a duel to grieve deeply.
