Description: It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

this movie was surprisingly good!!! i thought the story line was goin to be long and boring!!! but it actually pulls you in...and makes you guess what happens next!! def was expecting the ending!!!

The director and cast information at the top of the page is blatantly wrong though!

This film looks and feels like a classic and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The development of the story never goes stale so it keeps the audience guessing right to the end. A brilliant piece of work. hmmmm....not much of a thriller.
quite unimaginative, really.
badly done backgrounds! like when you see the ocean crashing into the shore, next moment waters look so calm as if it were a lake. or when they're driving. the green on that screen is so fake!
Di Crappio was never the best of actors in my opine, but I've seen worse, so I gave it 7\ 10
