The broadcast begins with a stirring speech by Sen. Edward Kennedy, recalling is brother Robert Kennedy's watershed trips to Berlin and South Africa. The keynote speech is by Lech Walesa, the leader of Poland's Solidarity Movement and later president of Poland.
