Description: Andy Dufresne is a young and successful banker whose life changes drastically when he is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. I just saw this film for the first time today and it happened to be one of the best I've seen in a long time! I agree with you totally; however, the other greatest movie and perhaps even better is The Count of Monte Cristo (as also mentioned in this movie). Both of these movies are amongst the greatest films ever created and are more appreciated by those with class & true taste in film. Another that is not really a prison movie but is more like a prison to the world of racism is the movie called Men of Honor. I am sure you have also seen it.
