In a small southern town, in 1872, a woman by the name of Clairesse La Vay was accused, tried and convicted of being a witch. She was put to death for her alleged crime by being buried alive, in a pine box coffin, in hallowed ground. Clairesse died a slow agonizing death. In 1983, the town was long gone, and all that remained were the old graveyard and the ruins of the church. A documentary filmmaker and his crew arrived to make a documentary about "the witch who was buried alive." After a series of bizarre, twisted events; the coffin was dug up, Clairesse was brought back to life, the filmmaker and three of his crew-members were dead, one crew-member was insane, and Clairesse and the coffin had disappeared. The cursed coffin continued to wreak havoc where ever and when ever it showed up. In 1986, in Louisiana, it caused a lot of grief for several young boys and a hearse with devastating results. Soon afterwords, a group of young people discovered that their dear friend was no longer who she appeared to be after she encountered the coffin on a lonely night. Years later the coffin raised an army of the living dead, in the spillway outside of New Orleans, as a young couple stumbled upon a satanic rite of the damned. In 1999, a vampire had taken up residence in the coffin, which was kept in a self-storage unit. Things got interesting when the third shift employees discovered it. Only one survived the encounter. Or did she? Once again, the coffin was drawn to the spillway outside of New Orleans, and it unleashed the fury of a werewolf on five unsuspecting friends. Countess Elizabeth Bathory, history's infamous lesbian vampire who, centuries ago, bathed in the blood of virgins to preserve her youth, arrives from Transylvania to take over the Los Angeles castle of Count Dracula, her vampire husband. At the same time, the 3000 year-old Mummy of Hor-Shep-Sut, an evil Egyptian sorceress, comes to life in a museum and stalks off into the night. Dracula, meanwhile, spends too long watching intended victims Tanya and Mina that, failing to return to the castle before dawn, is destroyed by the light of the rising sun. Renfield, Dracula's insect-eating servant, because he's spent too much time hunting fireflies than watching the time, is guilt-ridden over failing to save his Master. Elizabeth, who despises Renfield, relates to him (in flashback) her sordid blood-bathing past in Transylvania. Then she forces Renfield to find her a female victim. Renfield leads her to Mina, whom Elizabeth seduces in a video store. Elizabeth drinks Mina's blood, thereby enslaving her. Barely getting back to her coffin by sunrise, Elizabeth commands Renfield to find a way for her to survive in daylight. Fearful for his own life while at the same time trying to "kick" his bug addiction, Renfield vows that Elizabeth will not suffer the same fate as his Master. Although weakened for not satisfying his insect habit, Renfield learns from Professor Foran, an archaeologist at the museum, the legend of Hor-She-Sut (flashback). His quest to help the Countess eventually leads him and Elizabeth to a collectibles shop, where the Mummy - its unnatural life force gone - is now but an item for sale. Killing the shop's proprietor, Elizabeth steals the Mummy. Back at the castle, and using the Mummy as a conduit, Elizabeth contacts Hathor, the Egyptian "blood goddess" and sister of Ra, God of the Sun. Hathor reveals that, by drinking the blood of three young women and also stealing their "kas" (spiritual twins), Elizabeth will be able to survive in sunlight. This Elizabeth does, transforming Mina, Tanya and Samantha, another victim, into "zombie-like" handmaidens. They attack Renfield, for whom Elizabeth no longer has use, leaving him for dead. When Elizabeth defies Hathor, Renfield - revitalized by consuming a fly -- summons the goddess, who possesses and re-animates the Mummy's body. But if the Mummy is destroyed while Hathor possesses it, the Goddess will also die. Elizabeth and the Mummy battle outside the castle, the Countess using her undead powers, summoning lightning bolts that seemingly defeat the Mummy, severing one of its arms. Renfield, bravely wielding a sacred "Blood Scarab" like a crucifix and using the Mummy's jagged-ended arm like a stake, impales Elizabeth's heart, destroying her and, ultimately, saving Hathor. Neophyte Director Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) presents this "Rockumentary" showcasing the North American tour of aging rockers Spinal Tap. Band members David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), and Derick Smalls (Harry Shearer) form the core of the group, with various drummers dying over the years in freak accidents or through spontaneous human combustion. The band is set to promote their new record, "Smell the Glove," featuring a degrading photograph of a woman in bondage smelling a glove. The cover is deemed too offensive for many chain-stores, and is redone in 100% black, lacking a band logo or even a title. As the tour progresses, the audiences grow increasingly sparse and apparently confused by the all-black record sleeve. When St. Hubbins' girlfriend/wife/love interest joins the tour, ostensibly to replace long-time Manager Ian (Tony Hendra), it all becomes too much for Nigel's fragile ego, and he quits the group. They soldier on as "Spinal Tap II" without a lead guitarist, but the magic is gone. Finally, at the group's last show, Nigel reappears with a message from Ian: the single "Sex Farm" is a big hit in Japan and promoters would be interested in booking the band for a tour there.
