John, a career criminal in his early fifties, is serving time in Vestre Faengsel. His son is getting married and he is legally entitled to attend the wedding escorted by a prison officer. The officer, a moonfaced fellow with a provincial background, has made a favorable impression on the warden. Going through Copenhagen's seedy Vesterbro borough, where John has a number of hidden agendas to attend to, the two men are stripped down mentally.
