One night, young David McLean sees a spaceship crash into a nearby sandpit. His father goes to investigate, but comes back changed. When de Maynes becomes a spadassinicide, challenging opposing National Assembly members to duels they have no hope of winning, Andre becomes a politician to protect the third estate (and hopefully ventilate de Maynes). A nurse (Catherine Craig) is taking an amnesia victim, who was imprisoned by the Japanese during WW II, to the United States in a plane piloted by Richard Denning. The passengers include a Japanese colonel (Richard Loo) on his way to Manila to face war-crime charges, and a couple (Ann Doran and Byron Barr (II)) who were married on the day they were liberated from a Japanese prison camp. During the flight, the colonel---Richard Loo NEVER surrendered---breaks away from his guards, causes the plane to go out of control, and it crashes into the sea. The survivors get into a rubber boat and go through a minor-league version of "Lifeboat, with no Alfred Hitchcock sightings, until Air-Sea Rescue pilot Russell Hayden rides to the rescue, just as he did in his Columbia westerns also directed by William Berke. Carol Lawrence (Gale Storm), an aspiring singer, goes to a new night club owned by Danny Warren (Phil Regan), whose father Daniel Warren (Russell Hicks) doesn't approve of the club and wants Danny to join him in the family business. Carol is suspected of being a process server and is thrown out of the club. An extremely long arm of coincidence leads her to the elder Warren's office and he hires her as a process server. She returns but gets a singing job this time so foregoes serving the cease-and-desist notice. The Three Stooges are on hand as waiters and Connee Boswell, Louis Jordan, Will Osborne and Mary Treen provide the music and songs in addition to Gale Storn on "Oh, Buddy" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street." While living in Central America, Joe Beck receives word that his grandfather has passed away and left him $200,000. Beck prepares to travel to Galveston, Texas to claim his inheritance, with the important papers that he will need. When he is assaulted soon afterward, he changes plans and takes a ship leaving that night. Also on board is Nita, who herself seems to be in a hurry to leave port. Beck receives a number of veiled threats and warnings, and then is almost killed by an accident on deck. Beck soon realizes that he is facing two serious problems: an attempt to defraud him of his inheritance, and another plan to stop him from finding out what the ship's crew is up to.
