Mario Marani is a well-respected lawyer in late 70s Milano. He and his wonderful wife Francesca have an intense high social life. But Mario has a problem. He is obsessed by bad thoughts (cattivi pensieri); he is always concerned about his wife, thinking continuously to be betrayed by her. It is a nightmare, every time Mario sees Francesca talking to one of their friends immediately starts to see her and him in an hot affair. The investigating judge Mark Serra is called to deal with a case of rape against a minor. The culprit, the old hydraulic Mariani, defends himself by saying that the girl was to provoke him, and calling into question the behavior of sixteen today. That immortality is really as widespread as Marian says, the judge finds the person: the first is a companion to his daughter Mireille throw himself in her arms, then the alleged victim of the plumber. Another shock to his convictions gave it to him the discovery that Mireille is a member of a subversive and participated in a beating. Finally, the coup de grace: Laura, his wife betrays him with a pilot. Pescatilli together in a car, Serra throws her against the two lovers, dying with them in the fire of the two vehicles. This gripping crime thriller from director Carlo Lizzani was based on a true story. A daring gang of bandits pull off a series of risky heists in Milan, murdering several innocent bystanders in the film's exciting opening getaway scene. Lizzani then moves the story backwards in time, painting a portrait of Milan as a seething hotbed of vice. Gian Maria Volonte gives an increasingly flamboyant performance as the gang's egomaniacal leader, whose Nazi-like belief in his own superiority proves to be the flaw which foils his plans. Tomas Milian, in a rare nonvillainous turn, shines as the dedicated young police inspector who brings Volonte down, and gun moll Carla Gravina has an amusing (if stereotypical) scene in which Volonte teaches her to drive. The thrilling car chase is among the best in the Italian crime genre, and even Riz Ortolani's typically annoying musical score does not detract from the film's appeal.
