LBJ The Early Years: A television movie about the political career of Lyndon Johnson from 1934 until his ascension to the Presidency in 1963. This great, mostly forgotten 70's urban actioner was deservedly revived by Quentin Tarantino's distribution company, Rolling Thunder in 1998. The story is as follows: two cops, one black and the other white, are assigned the most difficult and potentially dangerous case of their careers when ambitious robbers hit a fund-raising affair for Michigan's first Black gubernatorial candidate. This results in much double crossing, a lot of gun play, non-candy coated handling of racial tension, and a fantastically long and gritty chase scene around the fringes of Detroit in large, early 70's model automobiles.
